Tryggvi Ólafsson (1940-2018) attended The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts 1960-1961 and The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts 1961-1966. The major part of his working life Tryggvi practiced his art in Denmark where he lived for over forty years. He was among the best known and most respected visual artists in Iceland and his works are owned by numerous galleries at home and abroad. Tryggvi was appointed a Knight of the Order of Dannebrog, holder of the Order of the Falcon and received the Jón Sigurðsson prize in 2018 for his life’s work and contribution to visual arts.
