Jón Óskar (1954) studied at The Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts 1974-1977, The Reykjavik School of Visual Arts 1978 and The School of Visual Arts, New York, 1980-1983, from which he graduated with honours. He has staged great many solo exhibitions and participated in various collective exhibitions at home and abroad, e.g., at The National Gallery of Iceland on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday in 2014. Jón Óskar has been nominated and received awards for his artwork such as the Francis Criss Award, New York, in 1983, and his works are to be found in private and public collections in many places. The artist lives and works in Reykjavik and the Westman Islands.
